The integration of content and language in CLIL: a challenge for content-driven and language-driven teachers

Although the core element in CLIL and immersion programmes is integration of content language, it challenging to achieve a balance between two meet dual-objective CLIL. Research on beliefs teachers have about way they understand role language their classes crucial that balance. In Basque Autonomous Community (BAC), multilingual region Spain, schools are implementing order improve students’ English proficiency foster multilingualism. This case study aims at exploring how this particular setting conceptualise understanding reflected through pedagogical practices. For purpose, thoughts practices with different teaching backgrounds examined here. The findings show implement ways there substantial differences content-oriented teacher language-oriented teacher. shows difficult classrooms because some tend be without enough attention given while others paid content.
